I feel like it’s time for a candor talk about yeast infections.  I have many clients coming to me with symptoms indicating a much bigger problem.  But when it comes to yeast infections, I MOSTLY have clients just doing a few things without knowing, that is making their lives miserable in the form of an itchy, scratchy, sore and sometimes smelly – yeast infection.

First of all – the basics:  A vaginal yeast infection is an imbalance in the bacterial flora of the vagina, and more specifically it’s an over growth of Candida Albicans.  Now one can have an overgrowth of this in other places in their body also – most commonly their intestines.  In babies – an overgrowth of Candida is indicated with a white tongue and referred to as Thrush.  But I don’t want to get hung up on a bunch of info here.  This blog is specifically about many unknown causes of yeast infections and also other cases of bacterial vaginosis (bacterial imbalances).  Any of these things can upset the natural ‘eco syste...

To help a loved one with dementia to eat, one must first understand some underlying reasons why they are not. Dementia plays tricks, not only on their mind and memory, but also on their physical body.

Do you suffer from Halitosis?  You don’t have to!  There is much more to keeping your breath fresh than brushing your teeth!  The following reasons (explained loosely and easily) are why your breath maybe awful in the morning…and perhaps all day long!

  1. Imbalanced Bacterial Flora:  So the digestive tract – specifically the bowel, is home to all sorts of good and bad bacteria.  If the bad grows faster than the good – you get problems.

  2. Food Intolerance/Sensitivities: Intolerance to a food is much different than an allergy. A sensitivity/intolerance is a digestive response, not a histamine reaction.  If you want to fix the sensitivity, you must fix the leaky gut!

  3. Low Digestive Juices: Food Intolerances, medications and age are the biggest causes of low stomach acid.  If you have Acid Reflux – this applies to you!

  4. Cavities, Gum Disease & Oral Infections:  When was the last time you went to the dentist?  Enough said.

  5. Strep Throat, Sinus Infections or...

We find ourselves in the situation all too often. We don't know how much food to cook to ensure we have enough to feed our family or guests.  To air on the side of caution, we make too much – and are left with leftovers. Living in a world where many go hungry, throwing food out is not an acceptable option, so the trick than becomes: 'What can I make that can use up some of these leftovers without creating new leftovers!?'.  The next modifying questions make it a little trickier.  'What can I make that is healthy?', 'What is different and not one of the same boring tastes I make all the time?', 'What foods can I incorporate so I am not just eating the same 7 foods all the time?'

Although there are numerous options out there, we find ourselves eating the same few foods over and over.  Well below is a list of ways to use up some common leftovers.  And thanks to the internet, there are many healthy versions to these recipes.  Whether you are dairy fre...

Christmas treats and New Year’s resolutions have long since passed.  We find ourselves having moved from a mindset of gratification in the moment, to perhaps unrealistic expectations we have placed on ourselves, to a better place of lifestyle and lasting change.  This is the evolution of a new year, a new beginning, and the ideal of forming healthy habits, routines and success foundations.

One of the most controllable variables in our lives and in our “Wellness,” is what we put into our mouth.  We are faced with a variety of choices within our direct control, which albeit small at the time, can total a big outcome.  All those seemingly small choices can be the difference in our desired success, in many of the ways we define success.  How we look, how we feel, how we think, how we focus, how we achieve.

I challenge you to focus on the total picture now.  A conclusive picture.  Not an ‘end result’ defined by specific parameters.  There is the differe...

On this the first day of a New Year we not only reflect on the events and emotion of the past year, but we begin to look forward to, and plan a new year to come.  Are you someone who makes resolutions?  Are you someone who makes the same resolutions year after year, because you never accomplished them the year before?  If that’s the case, you are probably feeling like you have failed yourself, like you are unable to keep promises to yourself, and now maybe you’re not too optimistic about meeting your goals for 2018.  But perhaps you just need a little help.  Perhaps it has nothing to do with “will power” and everything to do with proper planning.  After all, if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

A goal is only as good as its execution.  And often the thought or desire is there, but the goal seems completely overwhelming and wears you out just thinking about it.  And while...
